She met her husband while work.ing at the University of Chicago' under James Franck and Peter Pringsheim. They moved to Cleveland in 1946 and raised nine children. She taught chemistry at St. John's College. An avid hiker and gardener, she had a great love for the outdoors and native habitat of northeast Ohio.

She spent many years sharing her knowledge in the Cleveland Metroparks and finally at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Her strength, independence and love of learning are carried out every day in the lives of her children and grandchildren who love her very much.
