Obituary for Barry Head
Barry Lynn Head, 69, of Cedar Hill, passed from this life on Wednesday June 19, 2024, at Summitt Medical Center in Hermitage.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday June 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor David Royalty and Pastor Luis Martinez officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Dale Owen, Kenneth Mason, Jeff Doss, Chris Barnett, Craig Easterly, Wesley Palmore, Mark Cox, and Monty Walker serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Barry was born January 2, 1955, in Springfield, to the late Bobby and Mary Sue Corbin Head. He was a graduate of Jo Byrns High School Class of 1973, and then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay State University. Barry was the owner/operator of BLH Farms in Cedar Hill, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Joelton. In his free time, he enjoyed softball and basketball, and loved attending the sporting events his grandchildren were involved in.
Barry is survived by his wife: Sheila Stewart Head of Cedar Hill, by his children: Justin (Lindsey) Head of Cedar Hill, Kristen Winfree of Cedar Hill, Brent (Brooke) Duffer of Hendersonville, and Holly (Jeff) Wright of Greenbrier, by his grandchildren: Kolton Winfree, Khloe Winfree, Miley Head, Jax Head, Jase Head, Hanna (Kevin) Adkins, Ashlyn Wright, Raleigh Wright, Aubrey Wright, Bryson Duffer, and Brock Duffer, by his sister: Sherri (Tommy) Hinton of Murfreesboro, and by his dear friend and former farm supervisor: Luke West of Springfield.

Obituary for James Pinson
James Earl Pinson, 86, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday June 19, 2024, at his home.
His remains will be cremated, and no services are scheduled at this time.
Mr. Pinson was born May 19, 1938, in Orlinda, to the late Joel and Tabitha Claborn Pinson. He was a graduate of Greenbrier High School Class of 1956. Mr. Pinson was retired from the maintenance division of Dupont, and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons: Jimmy and Todd Pinson.
Mr. Pinson is survived by his wife, Sandra Bruce Pinson, of whom he would be married to for 68 years this coming December, by his son: Larry Bruce Pinson and wife Vicki of Greenbrier, by his grandchildren: Melissa Caldwell and husband Rex, Jessica Cole and husband Matt, by his great grandchildren: Hudson James Caldwell and Paxton Hayes Cole, and by his two brothers.

Obituary for Johnny Baldwin
Johnny M. Baldwin, 86, of Springfield peacefully passed away on June 17, 2024, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
His remains will be cremated, and a private family burial will be held at a later date.
Mr. Baldwin was born on November 8, 1937, to the late Marvin D. and Johnnie Pruitt Baldwin in Durant, Oklahoma. He faithfully served his country as a proud member of the U.S. Navy. He retired as a self-employed ceramic tile layer and was of the Christian faith. In his free time, Johnny enjoyed beekeeping and raising crops. He appreciated the challenge of trying to grow various vegetables and flowers on his farm. Once he moved into town, he still enjoyed helping his kids grow and sell the flowers and produce they raised.
Mr. Baldwin is preceded in death by his parents, and by his sisters, LaVerne and Marlene. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet Baldwin of Springfield, TN, by his daughters; Debra Grant of Springfield, TN, Laura (Curtis) Lee of Macon, GA, Wyvonne Garnica of Gainesboro, TN, Sarah (Jason) Bassett of Naples, FL, and Rebecca (Wes) Steele of Springfield, TN, by his son; Johnny D. Baldwin of Gainesboro, TN, by his brothers; Ron Baldwin of AZ, and Charlie (Velda) Keen of TX, and by twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Donna Couch passed away on June 16, 2024, she was born on October 30, 1947 in Galesburg, IL. Donna dedicated 12 years of her life to teaching Home Economics, leaving a lasting impact on her students and colleagues. Everyone who knew her called her a Sweetheart, she embodied a loving, quiet personality with a strong sense of independence.
In addition to her teaching career, Donna enjoyed various hobbies such as reading, painting, sewing, and volunteering in the 4H department to help children. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Franklin, KY She was especially known for handcrafting clothes for her grandchildren, whom she adored dearly and who affectionately called her “Grams”. Donna took immense pride in her role as a grandmother, and most recently, a great grandmother.
Donna is survived by her daughter Donika (Neil) Pierson, stepson Mark (Kate) Couch, grandchildren Nathan (Angel) Pierson and Derrick Pierson; step grandson, Nick (Sarah) Zaytsev; as well as great-grandson Nolan Pierson. She is also survived by her siblings David Viar (Jane), Sally Hansen (Dennis), and Wendy Galloway (Dan). She is preceded in death by her parents Don and Betty Viar and husband Dennis Couch.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Tyler Wade Lassiter, beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Tyler was born on January 2, 1992, in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Tyler had a passion for riding his Harley Davidson and could often be found cruising on the open road with the wind in his hair. His adventurous spirit and love for motorcycles brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Eugene Stubblefield; maternal step-grandfather Dailey Haneline, Jr.; paternal grandfather John Franklin Lassiter, Jr.; and uncle Jamie Lassiter.
He is survived by his parents Timothy and Jennifer Lassiter; his brothers Dusten Lassiter and Johnathon (Cassie) Lassiter; a cousin who was like a brother to him, Colton (Victoria) Lassiter; as well as his nieces Allison, Lakelynn, and Harlow; nephew Bentley; paternal grandmother Shirley Ann Lassiter; maternal grandmother Joy Haneline; aunts Lawana (Billy) Jones, Laurie (Danny) Pulley, Wendy (Joe) Crowell, and Kelli Lassiter; uncles Steven (Samantha) Stubblefield and Donnie (Tara) Stubblefield; and several cousins and friends.
Tyler will be deeply missed by his family and friends who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A memorial service is being planned and once the date/time/location are determined they will be updated to this obituary.

Joyce Johnson Matlock, age 92 of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 at her residence at Vantage Pointe.
The family will receive friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View on Monday, June 24th from 3:00PM until 7:00PM. There will be a private burial.
Mrs. Matlock was born on July 30, 1931 in Ashland City, Tennessee to the late Earl & Floy Harris Johnson. Her most treasured job was being a homemaker. She loved all sports, an avid bowler and a fabulous cook. She loved to attend any function she could that included her grandchildren. Joyce was known by her beloved husband as the “Queen”. Most importantly, she loved her Lord and her family very much and attended Ashland City United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, L.J. Matlock, Jr.; daughter, Patricia Matlock Ferguson; and brothers, Ray & Pat Johnson.
Survivors include her sons, Johnny (Pam) Matlock and Jeff (Melissa) Matlock; grandchildren, Leslie (Kurt) Kaalaas, Jason (Traci) Ferguson, Jennifer (Bobby) Brumit, Caitlin (Cody) Choate, Josh (Madelyn) Matlock, Anne Matlock, Bo (Jennifer) Matlock, Jack Matlock and Sam Matlock; twelve great-grandchildren; and loving nephew, Ricky Johnson and his wife Adrian.

Obituary for Tracy Dawn Willis
Tracy Dawn Willis, age 52 of Cottontown passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024 at her home. She was born February 20, 1972 in Springfield, TN to Jerry M. & Carolyn Richardson Wilkinson. She worked as an LPN for the VA Hospital in Biloxi, MS before her retirement. She loved caring for her patients. She proudly served her country heroically in the U.S. Army during the Gulf War in Southwest Asia, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, earning two bronze stars. Tracy loved children, spending time with her family, eating seafood, especially going to crab boils and visiting the beach.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Alexander, Gulf Port, MS; parents, Jerry & Carolyn Wilkinson, White House, TN; daughters, Haley (Seth) Gibbs, Peyton Willis, Logan Willis and Summer Willis, all of Gulf Port, MS; brother, Jeff Wilkinson, Tullahoma, TN; sister, Teresa (Dan) Williams, Springfield, TN; 1 step-grandchild.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday June 23, 2024 at 3pm at White House Church of Christ. Visitation will be held from 2-3pm at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Anderson was born on May 28, 1954, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late John & Lucille Biggs McClendon. She was a homemaker who was an encouraging and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed canning, cooking, listening to Bob Seger, and was the life of the party.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jeff McClendon; and sisters, Jewel Nickens and Jennie Foster.

Mr. Simpson was born on May 5, 1946, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Felix & Betty Turrentine Simpson. The occupation he was most known for was teaching at Cheatham County Central High School, but was also former owner of Ashland City Florist, retired from First Tennessee Bank, founded and directed daycare centers, and was on CSC Event staff. He also served as music director at numerous churches and as the SHS Band Booster president. He was an enthusiastic Color Guard “Dad” and cheer leader from the stands. Mr. Simpson loved Vandy baseball, the Nashville Predators, and the Atlanta Braves. He attended New Hope Hermitage Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Rev. Hughes & Laura Ellis; and sister-in-law, Beverly Simpson.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joan Ellis Simpson; daughters, Amanda (Christian) Neill, Alicia Simpson, Alayna (Campbell) Forrest, and Autumn (John) Hilton; grandchildren, Michael Dean Forrest, Judah Ward Hilton, and one on the way; brother, Jerry L. Simpson; a host of nieces & nephews, great-nieces & nephews, beloved cousins, and other extended family; and Bonnie Blue & Bear Bryant, his 2 dogs that he adored.

Ms. Hill was born June 1, 1933 in Barren Plains, TN to the late Coleman Thomas “ C.T. “ Mason and Nancy Louise Covington Mason. She loved flowers, gardening and working outdoors. Ms. Hill was very caring, loving and always there for everyone.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Hill was preceded in death by a son, Thomas A. Hill.

Mrs. Ridings was born November 5, 1946 in Nashville, TN to the late Paul and Sara Crutcher McConnell. She worked in accounting for the State of Tennessee and was a member of Greenridge Church of Christ. She loved being with her family, working with numbers, flowers, gardening and music.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Ridings was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Carter Ridings; and sisters, Belinda Williams and Tammy Salon.

Obituary for Bentley Charles Yates Sr.
Bentley Charles Yates, Sr., age 93 of Goodlettsville, TN passed away Monday, June 17, 2024 at Skyline Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 12pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Pastor Frank Cardona officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Goodlettsville, TN with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family received friends on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home and Saturday from 11am till time of service at 12pm.
Bentley Charles Yates was born on January 15, 1931 in Cleveland, TN. He joined the Air Force when he was 15 and served 16 1/2 years. On June 17, 1950 he married Bobbie Joyce Young and eventually had three children. His family meant the world to him. He went on to work in freight for many years and the last twenty years as a supervisor for Yellow Freight before retiring. Ben loved Southern Gospel Music and used his talent to minister to many people at churches, nursing homes and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Thelma Yates; his wife, Bobbie; his brothers, Jimmy, Tommy and Hugh; his sisters, Helen Colston and Winona Clemmons.
He is survived by his three children; Rebecca (Wendell) Marshall, Kathy (Lee) Simmons and Ben Yates, Jr.; four grandchildren, Amy (Thomas) Murphy, Amanda (Justin) Brogdon, Trey (Tiffany) Yates and Jesse Yates as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
Ben was a Christian man who loved the Lord and his family with all his heart and we look forward to being with him again in Heaven someday soon.

Obituary for David Eugene Ayers
David Eugene Ayers, 70 years old, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, following a long-fought battle with cancer.
He was born to James Buford Sr and Mildred Tinnin Ayers on January 4, 1954 in Madison, Tennessee. Growing up in Cross Plains, Tennessee he was a proud classmate and graduate of East Robertson High School class of 1973. Following graduation, he went straight into the workforce, a jack of all trades, even a master of some. David was a very hardworking man with expertise across several industries including trucking, welding, backhoe, excavation and tire service. In fact, he worked through his lengthy illness and was a great example of dedicated work ethic!
David was a Mason at the Crystal Fountain Masonic Lodge and a past Master at the White House Masonic Lodge. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite and Shriner at the Al Menah Shrine Temple in Nashville, Tennessee. He also served for many years as “Digger” the Klown of the Sumner County Shrine Klown Club, he took such pride in supporting the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Someone once said, “All people die but not all people live”, David truly lived each day to its fullest! He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He loved to be in the company of others, rarely ever met a stranger and was always able to strike up conversation! Many knew him by “Big Mo”, “Big Dave” or “Cuz”. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, camping and trips to the beach. David was a native of Robertson County, always well- liked and respected by his community. David will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Most importantly, he was a Child of God who believed in Christ as his eternal Savior. He wanted everyone to have a relationship with the Savior! David was a member of the White House Seventh Day Adventist Church.
In addition to his parents, David is proceeded in death by brother, James “Jimmy” Ayers Jr, nephew, James “Bo” Ayers, and granddaughters, Ashley and Susan Nelson.
David is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patsy Ayers. Brothers and sisters in law, Ginger Ayers Roberts of late Jimmy, Joe Ayers Sr (Judy) and Robert “Bobby“ Ayers (Danette). Daughters and son in law, Kerie (Cole) Fulton, Nancy Hupp and Kimberly Duke. Grandchildren, Bryce and Ava Fulton, Timmy and Tammy Hupp, Shawn Nelson. Ten great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews but especially beloved nephews Tony (Nichole) Ayers and Ronnie (Dawn) Ayers.
His family would like to recognize and thank the incredible and compassionate care he received during his illness including his beloved primary care provider, Brittany Jepson, PA-C and nurse Tanda, Dr. Waleed Khalaf, nurses and the entire Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center Pleasant View Team, Thomas Drugs, and nurses Wes and April with Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral service was held Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11am in the chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral Home in White House with Pastor Jeremy Leggett officiating. Interment followed in White House Memorial Gardens with Tony Ayers, Joe Ayers Jr, Jon Ayers, Ronnie Ayers, Bryan Ayers, Greg Keith, Evan Carr acting as Pallbearers. Timmy Ayers, Shawn Nelson, Cole Fulton, Bryce Fulton, Daniel Joiner, Tom Day, Donnie Day, Johnny Day, Jim Bamman, Butch Jenkins served as honorary pallbearers. Visitation is planned for Thursday, June 20, 2024 3-7pm and Friday, June 21, 2024 9-11am at the funeral home. A Masonic service was Thursday evening at 6pm in the funeral home chapel.

Betty Geraldine “Geri” Helmbold, age 93 of White House passed away Monday, June 17, 2024 at Vitality Keepsake Village in Hendersonville, TN. She was born on August 8, 1930 to Robert and Leola Sanford. She was the oldest of five children. She served the Lord all of her life and always showed the love of Christ by serving others. She encouraged her family to always put their faith and trust in God in whatever the circ*mstances. Her example and life of strength and courage touched so many and she brought joy to both the young and old. In previous years, she enjoyed taking care of her beautiful flower gardens, cooking, reading, taking family camping trips, and entertaining senior groups as a professional clown. She would not want anyone to grieve for her, but instead to rejoice, knowing she is where life and love never ends. She was a member of North Springfield Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Leola Sanford; husbands, Ralph Moulton and Charles Helmbold; brothers John Ray and Jimmy Sanford. She is survived by sons Mike Moulton (Phyllis); Brian Moulton (Yolanda); daughter Marsha Duncan (Michael); five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother Robert L. Sanford (Erika); sister Barbara Oglesvee (Jim); sister-in-law Mildred Sanford; nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Austin and Bell Funeral Home in White House, TN at 2pm with Bro. Michael Smith and Jason Duncan officiating. Visitation will be held 12-2pm at the funeral home prior to the service. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sandra Weaver Malone of Springfield; daughter, Kristy Malone of Lebanon; grandchildren, Hannah Gott and William Gott; sisters, Brenda Mack and husband Doug of Cottontown, Judy Carmen and husband David of Springfield, and Pamela Ness and husband David of Castilian Springs; sisters-in-law, Virginia Summerville and husband Richard of Brentwood and Vivian Camp and husband Darryl of Ringgold, GA; and brother-in-law, Howard Carr of Madisonville, KY.

Obituary for Jean Brooks
Jean Smith (Mayes) Brooks, aged 101, of Hixson TN, went to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus on April 28, 2024. She was born in Adams on August 30, 1922, to Paul Beasley and Verda (Smith) Mayes, and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1946 with a major in History. She was teaching Spanish, Math and History at Bell High School when she met the love of her life, Newton Brooks, just home from the Pacific in WW2, and was his devoted wife and companion until his passing in 2014. They spent the first 17 of their 67 years together on their farm in Adams, and Jean was known to say that “the farm’s best crop is children!” They moved to Chattahoochee, Florida in 1966, and after Newton retired, they became avid square dancers; they traveled together both in the U.S. and abroad, and spent many summers working at the Presbyterian (PCA) Conference Center in Brevard, N.C. Jean “never met a stranger,” and was loved by everyone who knew her. Even in a wheelchair for the past eighteen months in a long-term care facility, she had an encouraging word for all of her fellow residents.
She is survived by 8 of their 10 children: Jim (Jackie) of Adairville KY, Harriet Cash of Hixson, Henry Knox (Nadine) of Sneads FL, Robert (Gwen) of Land O’Lakes FL, Leslie (Gail) of Atlanta GA, John Polk of Amman Jordan, twins Elizabeth (Robert) Pollard of Waxahachie TX and Evelyn (Nick) Wiley of Eads, TN; 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by, in addition to her husband, daughters Martha Jane and Anne.
Everyone was invited to join the family in a service celebrating her life at Adams Methodist Church, at 10 AM on June 15th, 2024.

Lee enjoyed his horses, his cows, and his dogs.

Lanell enjoyed bowling, cross stitching, crafts, going camping, and she loved to play Wii with her grandson.

Mac enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, grilling, NASCAR, and riding his motorcycle. Mart Anderson, and his sisters, Lucille Choate, and Wilma “Bobbie” Scott.

Mrs. Callis was born January 2, 1934 in Springfield, Tennessee to the late Earl Dixon and Lou Emma Osborne Simmons. She worked as a dietary at NHC and was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenbrier. In her spare time, she loved her flowers and cooking.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Callis is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Robert Scott Draughon, 2nd husband, Charles Callis, brothers, Dixon Simmons and Carl Simmons, sisters, Maynell Kirby, Geradine Patton, Lois Campbell, Rebecca Johnson and Shirley Cobb and son-in-law, Bobby Hall and brother-in-law, Jimmy Moore.

Judge Burton Dunn Glover passed away on June 10, 2024, after a brief illness.
Services were held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Springfield, Tennessee, with Reverend Jason Jones officiating. The family received friends Thursday, June 13, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Austin and Bell Funeral Home in Springfield, Tennessee, and Friday, June 14, 2024 at the church, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield.
Burton Dunn Glover was born on January 3, 1939, to Burton Wilks Glover and Mary Louise Dunn Glover of Springfield, Tennessee. He was a high school graduate of Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee. He then studied at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. As an undergraduate, he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and the Order of the Gownsmen academic society. Later in life, he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Nashville School of Law. Following the death of his father during his senior year of college, Burton assumed control of Glover Auto Company, an auto dealership established by his grandfather, H. B. Glover. He later became a partner in Barber Motor Company, an auto dealership in Springfield. He then changed professional course, attaining a legal degree, and pursing the practice of law. He served as General Sessions Judge and Juvenile Judge for Robertson County. During that time, he was elected President of the Juvenile Judges for the State of Tennessee. He was instrumental in establishing the Robertson County Recovery Court, a compassionate legal avenue for those struggling with addiction. After retiring from the bench, he served as a County Commissioner for Robertson County, and continued with a private legal practice. Judge Glover was also a lifelong farmer, operating Hereford Hills Farm until his death. This family farm, established by his grandfather H.B. Glover, has raised cattle, tobacco, and other crops for over 100 years. He loved dogs, especially German Shepherds. Several loyal shepherds preceded him in death and await him in Heaven. Judge Glover loved athletic endeavors. He supported the Springfield Yellow Jackets, witnessing his children play for that school. He also loved the Tennessee Vols, representing his wife’s alma mater, and the Vanderbilt Commodores, representing his mother’s alma mater. He loved operating heavy equipment, motorcycles, muscle cars, boating, snow skiing, and water skiing. He loved his friends and had many tales to tell of their escapades through the years. Judge Glover was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springfield, the Robertson County Bar Association, the New Chapel Men’s Club, and was a Trustee of the Glenn Memorial Women’s Clubs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Ann Louise Glover Baker, and his brother-in-law, Dr. Joseph T. Fuhrmann He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-four years, Suzanne Cook Glover; beloved children Colonel (Ret) Burton Cook (Anna) Glover of Tampa, Florida, Dr. William Bryan Glover of Nashville, Tennessee, and Dr. Annie Glover (Phil) Spicer of Springfield; grandchildren William Emerson Glover, Molly Glover, Helen Glover, Katherine Glover, Phillip Spicer and Burton Spicer; niece Sara Baker Cloward of Oakdale, California and brother-in-law Bruce P. Baker of Oakdale, California, sister-in-law, Mary C. Fuhrmann of Murray, Kentucky, nephew Christopher Fuhrmann of Santa Clara, California, and niece Maria Fuhrmann Humphries of Memphis, Tennessee.
