Ingredients

Before you start to make this recipe, measure and prepare your ingredients so the cooking process will go smoothly and easily.

Oreo cookies-we usedOreo cookiesfor this cheesecake because we like the chocolaty taste ofOreo cookies, but you can use any kind of chocolatedigestive biscuits.

Dark chocolate-use the best qualitydark chocolatefor the best flavor.

Heavy cream-make sure that your heavy cream is cold. Cold heavy cream whips better and quicker.

Vanilla extract-for extra flavor. You can use vanilla bean extract for extra flavor!

Salt– We usedkosher saltfor this recipe. Salt doesn’t give the filling a salty taste, it helps to enhance the flavor.

Dutch cocoa powder– we like to use Dutch-process cocoa powder for our brownies because we like the deep and rich chocolate taste, but the natural cocoa powder will work great as well!

Powder sugar-you will need powdered sugar for this recipe. you don’t have to buy powdered sugar, you can simply make it at home by blending granulated sugar in ablenderorfood processor.

Instructions

Crush the Oreo cookies in a plastic bag or with a food processor until they are fine crumbs. You can make them into larger pieces.

Make the chocolate mousse

Melt the dark chocolate and heavy cream in a small mixing bowl. You can do so in the microwave for 20-10 second pulses and mix between every pulse. Or melt it in a bain marie method.

Into a large mixing bowl, add the heavy cream, sift the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and add the vanilla extract. Whip with anelectric hand mixeruntil stiff peaks form.

Add the melted chocolate mixture to the whipped mixture and mix with theelectric hand mixerand then fold with a spatula until well combined.

Make the whipped cream

Into a bigmixing bowl, add the heavy cream,vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Mix with anelectric hand mixeruntil stiff peaks form.

Assemble

Into 5 glasses, add 1 tablespoon of the Oreo crumbs to each cup, then pipe a layer of the chocolate mousse, then top it with a layer of whipped cream.

Repeat with more Oreo crumbs, chocolate mousse, and whipped cream on top, and top with extra Oreo crumbs for decoration. Cover each cup with plastic wrap and store in the fridge to set for at least 3 hours.

  • Scrape down the sides of the bowlfrequently to ensure that you have a hom*ogeneous mixture that is smooth.
  • Let your dessert chillin the fridge for at least 3 hours. We know it’s very hard to resist eating this delicious dessert right away, but you have to let it chill and soak up the flavors. We like to let it sit in the fridge overnight.
  • Make sure that you are using high-qualitydark chocolatefor this parfait. It will make the flavor of this parfait super delicious, and it doesn't have to be expensive! There are a lot of affordable high-qualitydark chocolatebrands.

Storing

Store this dessert in the fridge (because it contains dairy) covered tightly with plastic wrap for up to 3 days. I like eating this the day after.

Freezing

If you want to freeze these dessert cups, make these in plastic cups and wrap the top with plastic wrap. Then, transfer them into the freezer and freeze them for up to 2 months.

Thaw in the fridge overnight or at room temperature for 1-2 hours. You can eat it right out of the fridge for a frozen dessert!

Substitutions

Gluten-free- if you want to make this recipe gluten-free, simply replace the Oreos with gluten-free Oreos.

Dairy-free- to make this dessert dairy-free, you can swap the heavy cream with vegan heavy cream or full-fat coconut cream.

Variations

Chocolate biscuits-if you don't want to use Oreos, use chocolate biscuits for the crust!

Chocolate chips-add mini or regular chocolate chips to the filling for a delicious chocolaty crunch.
