The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional honorary Society of women educators, was founded in 1929. The first state organization, Alpha Alpha was chartered in Pennsylvania in 1937. This collection documents the history and activities of the Alpha Alpha chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma society primarily through scrapbooks and publications, with 1 video and 3 oral history audio recordings.

Organizational History
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional honorary Society of women educators, was founded in 1929. The first state organization, Alpha Alpha was chartered in Pennsylvania in 1937.
Collection Overview
This collection documents the history and activities of the Pennsylvania state organization, Alpha Alpha, of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Materials include scrapbooks, histories, publications, meeting minutes of the executive committee and state officers, state convention booklets, member directories, and the state newsletter the Keystonian. The scrapbooks offer historical accounts, photographs, and some correspondence related to the beginnings of Alpha Alpha in 1937, and include biographies of award winners, and some newspaper clippings. In addition, there are photograph albums, color slides, and charcoal portraits of past presidents. Publications in the collection include books authored by or about Delta Kappa Gamma leaders, and yearbooks/member directories.
